With deep roots in Durham, North Carolina, Southern Americana artist Katie Basden grew up immersed in a home full of diverse musical influences. Launching her solo career at just 15, she soon made the bold move to Nashville, TN at 18, a decision that placed her on the path to many of her most defining moments.

Katie’s breakout came on NBC’s The Voice, where she captivated a global audience as a Top 20 finalist with her coach Blake Shelton, after initially working with Adam Levine. From there, she continued to build a career marked by remarkable highlights: earning national recognition with her song “Gypsy Prophet,” which won Best Country Video Performance in American Songwriter Magazine’s 30th Anniversary Song Contest, and later being praised by former American Songwriter editor Caine O’Rear for her captivating fusion of country, soul, rock, and blues.

Her artistry expanded even further with the release of her sophomore project, Release the Sound, and she has since lent her voice to albums for icons including Celine Dion and Iam Tongi. Most recently, Katie was a featured vocalist in Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony, a one-of-a-kind symphonic experience that reimagines Dolly’s greatest hits, including “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “I Will Always Love You,” with lush new orchestrations and immersive multimedia storytelling curated by Dolly herself. During her performance of “Light of a Clear Blue Morning”, Dolly gave Katie a standing ovation and told her “You sang your a** off! Well, actually, you sang MY a** off!” in her green room after the performance.
